The Mt Hagen show, which takes place every August, is one of the world's greatest cultural spectacles. With clans from all over Papua New Guinea being represented, the two day "sing-sing" highlights some of the best of New Guinea culture. Dressed in spectacular traditional costumes complete with swaying bird of paradise head-dresses groups perform their traditional clan dances. Other groups perform short plays and the accompanying music is often made using traditional instruments. Offering fantastic photo opportunities the show is a must for any traveller interested in PNG culture.
Kumul Lodge is a great place to base whilst visiting the show and our helpful staff can arrange show passes, transportation to and from the show grounds and an escort for your time at the show.
